Bring on the Adventure!!!

Meetings

Cubs meet every Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. sharp! until 8:00 p.m. at the Sandy Hill Community Centre

There is about one weekend activity per month.

*************************************

Uniform:

The cub uniform consists of a tan shirt and red sash with yellow border. These are available at the Scout shop at 1345 Baseline Road.

The neckerchief, uniform insignia and epaulettes will be given to cubs at the time of their investiture (in October). Shirts should be worn with blue pants or shorts, if possible.

We gladly accept for old uniforms your children may have outgrown, so that we may recycle them to newer Cubs. If you have any, please let the leaders know.

Weekly meeting dues:

Each child is asked to bring $0.75 to each meeting. We also accept a one-time $25 cheque from parents. Dues cover small expenses for the pack, craft supplies, buying badges to recognise your Cubs accomplishments and other small Pack expenses.

Activities:

Every month, Cubs will receive a newsletter to bring home that will highlight upcoming activities.

Outings

Outings are organized by leaders and made known to parents in advance. The attached calendar lists many activities taking place this year.

Please note: leaders are responsible to organize outings as part of the program. The responsibility for getting cubs to these activities will NOT be assumed by leaders. We therefore need a PARENT who will be a coordinator for rides. This is an essential position that is needed so ride logistics are taken care of.

September Event

Speaking of outings, our first outing is a Fall Activity Day at Brewar Park on September 22nd.

Brewar Park is located on Bronson Road (across from Carleton University North of the Rideau River)

There will be games, including a catamaran race "demonstration" and lots of fun! Please dress to get dirty/wet!

Start: 10:00 am

Bring your lunch.

Closing at 15h00.

Program Themes for the Year:

This year we will be building the Cub Program around the themes found under Red Star (Health & Fitness) and the Tawny Star (Creative Expressiony) sections of the Cub Book. All Cubs who regularly attend meetings, and do not have these stars, will earn them by the end of the year. Activities done under these themes will also count towards some of the Badges in these areas, which Cubs can work on at home.

Of course, Cubs are free to follow their interests in the Stars, Badges and Awards Program. For example, many of our returning Cubs have already earned their Collectors Badge, Cooking Badge, Recycling Badge, etc.
